JimJohn.net hits 10 years!

Just a quick post from your dedicated admin here at JimJohn.net .

John and Jim are currently off on another trip, enjoying the delights of Europe.  But I didn’t want to let today go by without a special note.

Please join me in thanking Jim and John for 10 years of interesting posts here on JimJohn.net. Their first post was ten years ago today. Since then they have taken us on trips around the world to enjoy art, history, food, and fun.

Equally important, at least, they have reviewed over 1,800 movies for us. They sent us to many great films that we might have otherwise missed. And they’ve used their “flaming-zero” to stop us from wasting $15 on many stinkers.

I’ve been with John and Jim on this project from day one. I’ve been very impressed by their dedication to the project. I’ve enjoyed every post. And, even more, I’ve enjoyed working with these two fine guys.

I know that many of you have been here for a long time, too. Please join me in congratulating Jim and John on their ten year run. Join me in thanking them for all the hard work that they’ve put into JimJohn.net. And join me in encouraging them to keep up the good work.

Theater: Motown, 42nd Street, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie

We were lucky enough to catch a few of matinees during our visits to London, all musicals.

Motown the Musical

This delightful musical was a reminder of the social changes that took place over the span of 25 years covered by this show.  The music is classic, the production was sensational and the songs and dances were highly entertaining.  It played at the Shaftesbury Theatre.

42nd Street

We were never able to see this show on Broadway but finally scored tickets for a matinee.  It was a fantastic show on one of the largest stages in London’s theater district, Dury Lane.

Great tapping!  A well choreographed cast with heartbeat timing, in perfect costume.  It’s as if we were chosen to be in this right place at this very time.

For years we missed this show in New York.  Now redeemed, this was one of the best song and dance shows anywhere, ever!!

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie

This is a new musical about a young man in high school, coming of age and quickly gets comfortable in his own skin.  The songs are original, fresh and new.  The singing is excellent.  Reviews and audience reaction has been very favorable.  We were impressed.  At the Apollo Theatre.
