Movie 1: 23000 Lives

This is a true story about a group of young Germans who feel it is their responsibility to help African migrants cross the Mediterranean from North Africa to Sicily.  Dealing with pirates, sinking and overcrowed boats, the Italian government and all manner of weather, these young folks literally save 23,000 lives.  Well done and inspiring.  On Netflix.

Movie 2: Heartstopper Forever

This is a charming British coming of age gay romance.  Two high school kids, one a junior and the other a senior fall in love and deal with all the angst teenagers everywhere do.  Well written and acted and accurately tells a universal story.  On Netflix.

Movie 3: Shipwrecked: Nightmare at Sea

This is a well done Netflix documentary about the capsizing of the Italian cruise ship Costa Concordia yards off the coast of Tuscany.  With actual footage and passenger and crew interviews, this movie really highlights the horrors and unbelievable mistakes of that January night in 2012.  For those of us who have enjoyed cruising over the years, watching the mistakes and horror of this disaster will give you nightmares.
